God Will Never be Outdone in Generosity

In a rare Sunday homily given at St. Anne Catholic Church in Barrington, IL, Fr. Michael preaches on a seemingly tough homily in which Jesus calls out his followers to "hate" their families before they can become his disciples. Fr. Michael reminds us that the message isn't to hate our families but to put God first. By doing so, we order ourselves rightly and can thus be better fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, etc.
Great crowds were traveling with Jesus,
and he turned and addressed them,
“If anyone comes to me without hating his father and mother,
wife and children, brothers and sisters,
and even his own life,
he cannot be my disciple.
Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me
cannot be my disciple...
