Milky Way & Honey - More Seeds of Hope
That's the end of this story.
Today's story seed has an estimated 300 million reasons to pay attention.
He brought us out of Egypt with his strong hand and outstretched arm, with terrifying power, with signs and wonders; and bringing us into this country, he gave us this land flowing with milk and honey.
Many call the United States of America the greatest nation on Earth, but one doesn’t have to look far to see people suffering, and most likely that includes you.
We all have hardship and pain. We struggle to repair broken relationships. Our health, or that of a loved one, may be slipping away. Unemployment can strike without warning. Some of us wake up every day in grief or despair.
Is God big enough to help each of us? Keep in mind there are more than 7 billion people on our planet. How could God possibly keep up with everyone? It’s a good question to ask during Lent. For just a moment, let’s consider news that recently came from top NASA scientists.
The Kepler spacecraft was sent deep into the Milk Way to chart and calculate how many stars are in our galaxy, and how many of those stars have planets that are similar to earth in size and orbital distance from their sun.
After a decade of research, the answer is—you guessed it—300 million! That’s right, in our galaxy alone, some of the smartest people in the world estimate there are 300 million earth-like planets.
As we look into the sky from our cities and towns, it is hard to see what is shining in the skies above us. Our Milky Way galaxy has perhaps 100 billion stars in it. And there are estimates that there are some 200 billion galaxies in the universe.
We cannot fathom the depth and breadth of the possibilities God contains, but yes, if God created the cosmos, God can keep track of each of us.
Every star shines through the night, and every one of us is part of this beautiful universe. God urges us to shine brighter, to get along with the billions of other people on our planet, and find our place in the land of milk and honey that we call the Milky Way.
