Both his wife Marybeth and he were Jesuit educated at Xavier University in Cincinnati, parishioners at St. Patrick Historic Black Catholic Church in Charleston, S.C., members of parish Synod on Synodality Committee and social justice activists in the spirit of St. Ignatius.
