Shrines of Spain - Jesus Gives His Sacred Heart
That's the end of this reflection.
We left Avila and continued traveling northwest to Salamanca, a city in the Castilla y Leon region known for its prominent culture. The University of Salamanca is the oldest University in Spain and the third oldest in Europe. Here St. Ignatius studied, and here he was again incarcerated by the Spanish Inquisition for preaching without a theological degree. We celebrated Mass here on the Feast of the Sacred Heart.
