Shrines of Spain - Pray with St. Dominic
That's the end of this reflection.
On the 6th day of our pilgrimage, after breakfast, we departed the city of Valladolid for the Dominican convent and church at Caleruega. This holy site marks the birth place of St Dominic, the founder of the Dominican order. He lived from 1170 - 1221 and was a contemporary of St. Francis of Assisi. It was there in a small but beautifully modern chapel built in the undercroft of the upper, larger church that we celebrated a prayer service honoring St. Dominic and his devotion to the Blessed Mother. The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
