Shrines of Spain - Do Everything for God's Glory

On Day 7 of our pilgrimage, we visited the Santuario de Loiola, the 17th-century Basilica dedicated to this remarkable saint. The Basilica is part of a series of buildings surrounding the “Holy House,” or birthplace of St. Ignatius. We had the opportunity to celebrate Mass at the most venerated room where St. Ignatius prayed and began his conversion. Deacon Jerry Nora assisted me at Mass, and Fr. Mark Scalese concelebrated. Later that day, we continued to the nearby town of Azpetia to visit the church of St. Sebastian where St Ignatius was baptized in 1491. There we held a healing service where all the ministers in our group prayed for our pilgrims. These included myself and Fr. Mark, Deacon Jerry, Rev. Carol Ann Munro, ( a United Church of Christ pastor) and Fr. Howard Espie (an Anglican priest). At the end of the healing service, Betsey Beckman danced to a song based on St. Ignatius’ Prayer for Generosity.
